The short version

Totally Cairo doesn't require an account, doesn't collect personal information beyond what's described below, and never sells visitor data to anyone. We use Google Analytics to understand which guides are useful. Affiliate monetisation is currently paused, so no affiliate links or booking widgets are active in the published source.

Analytics and cookies

This site uses Google Analytics (via Google's gtag.js) to understand overall traffic patterns — which pages get read, roughly where visitors come from, and general device/browser trends. This works via cookies and similar technologies that assign your browser an anonymized identifier; we don't combine this with your name, email or any other way of identifying you personally, and we don't have access to it even if we wanted to.

For visitors browsing from the EU, EEA or UK, analytics cookies are not set until you actively consent via the cookie banner shown on your first visit — this is handled through Google's Consent Mode, which keeps analytics storage switched off by default for those regions until you choose 'Accept'. Visitors elsewhere see analytics load by default, consistent with local requirements; you can still decline anytime by not accepting the banner, where shown, or by using your browser's cookie controls.

Affiliate links

Affiliate monetisation is currently paused, so the published site does not contain active affiliate links. The owner retains historical configuration for Wise, Amazon Associates, Hotels.com and Expedia so monetisation can be restored later only if explicitly authorised. If affiliate links return, they will carry clear disclosures next to the relevant links and this policy will be updated to match the live state.

No business can buy more favourable editorial coverage. If monetisation is restored later, commercial relationships must remain separate from editorial decisions.

Third-party embedded content

No Expedia Group booking-search widgets are currently active in the published source. A live weather lookup from Open-Meteo runs in the header; that request loads directly from the provider's servers, so the provider can see that a request came from your browser, similar to loading an embedded map or video.

Your choices

You can browse this entire site with cookies and analytics blocked via your browser's own privacy settings, with no loss of functionality beyond the analytics we'd no longer see. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially — for example, monetisation is restored or a new analytics tool is introduced — we'll update this page and its genuine revision date. We don't send notifications for policy changes, so this page is the current reference.
